Obituary For Vincent R. Cracchiolo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Vincent R. Cracchiolo on Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie for 58 years and father of AnneMarie, Diane, and Denise. Vincent was born in Brooklyn on July 2, 1934. His parents, Antonina and Dominick, raised him and his sisters, Ann and Marie, in Carroll Gardens. He attended Catholic grammar school there and went on to study business at Long Island University. Vincent worked in banking and shortly thereafter was drafted into the army, stationed in Augsburg, Germany. There he forged life long friendships with Raymond and Phil. He returned to Brooklyn and worked at Chase Manhattan Bank and Gimbels Department Store. Vincent then continued his career at General Electric, becoming a loyal fan of a household full of GE appliances. Vincent met Rosalie, daughter of Maria and Salvatore, in 1964. When her mother invited Vincent over for the first dinner, she made him pasta with marinara sauce. He often commented that it was so good, he thought it was fresh tomato sauce, but it was from a can. Rosalie and Vincent were married on September 25, 1965 at St. Finbar’s Church with the reception at Cotillion Terrace. They honeymooned at The Singapore in Miami Beach. On their first anniversary, his first and favorite daughter AnneMarie was born. Three years later, the middle child Diane was born. He often bragged that her Apgar scores were perfect…with a good prediction for the future. Two years later, Vincent was hoping for a little Robert to arrive, but he got his baby and future Macy’s shopping partner, Denise. Rosalie and Vincent’s family grew with the addition of their two sons-in-law, Stephen and Joseph. They welcomed their first grandchild Nicole who shares a birthday and left-handedness with Aunt Denise. Vincent always picked up Nicole with a big wave and a snack neatly prepared at home. Michael arrived two years later, proud to welcome his handsome grandson. They shared their love of trolleys and trains. He dearly loved his sweet angel Christina in Heaven. His beautiful, little debutant granddaughter, Olivia soon arrived. Dapper in his Sunday-best suit, Vincent escorted Olivia to her Sweet Sixteen and Father-Daughter Dance. In Vincent’s retirement years, he enjoyed working at Radio City Music Hall, fitting his personality perfectly. He took care of Nicole and Michael, and at the same time he was washing clothes with Clorox, ironing with his endless collection of Hotpoint irons, and chatting with his friends in housewares all over the country. In 2015, Rosalie and Vincent celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. This made him very happy. Vincent often said that he most loved his beautiful wife, three daughters, and grandchildren. Family was his everything. And to his family he was everything. Rest In Peace our beloved Vincent.
