Vincent D’Onofrio of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was born in Rotundi, Italy in 1926 to Vincenzo and Angelina D’Onofrio and immigrated to America on March 31st, 1949 .Shortly later, he met the love of his life Michelina .They wed on October 24, 1953 and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Vincent was dearly loved by wife and his children, Harry, Angela and her husband Tom, Gina and her husband Nicky, Anna and her husband Brian, Connie and her husband Rick. Vincent was the proud Grandfather of Christina, Danny, Nicholas, Diana, Vinny, Marissa, Jason, Brian, Tina, Michele, Vincent, Gianna as well as Ricky and Gregory Vincent was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren and was the beloved “Uncle Vinny” to his many nieces, nephews and friends. Vincent is remembered by all as a happy man with a ready smile, a whistle on his lips and a song to be sung, all of which brought joy and love to all who knew him.

    In the summer of 1976 D.B.C was doing a job up in Harlem . I was working for my uncles at the time and I just got my drivers license. So, at the end of the day uncle Vinny says to me potsie u dri va I'm tired. We were on the FDR drive in traffic I finally get to lane to get on the Brooklyn bridge ...after sitting there for 10 minutes . Uncle Vinny says to me Pasquale ! Take the tunnel I'll give the fifty cents Manegia .

    Zio Vincenzo was a good friend to me and Caterina. Zia Michelina, in fact, is Caterina's Confirmation godmother. Zio Vincenzo had nothing but good advice for the two of us. He loved to sing, and perhaps his favorite canzone napoletana was 'O Sole Mio. May he rest in peace. Carmine, Caterina Lengua and family.
