Obituary For Maria "Mary" Brogna

Mary Brogna was a lifelong Brooklynite. She grew up on Carroll Street where she lived with her parents and three brothers. In her younger days, she worked as a seamstress in Park Slope. After marrying the love of her life, Donato, they briefly moved to an apartment in Bay Ridge. They had to leave it when it was to be torn down to make way for the construction of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge. They then moved to Bensonhurst and ultimately to the Midwood section of Brooklyn where they would raise two sons, Donato and James, and celebrate 55 years of Marriage. She was a wonderful mother and housewife. She passed away Tuesday at age 99, four months shy of her 100th birthday. She is survived by her 2 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Also surviving her are 1 brother, 1 sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews and their children. Mary will be dearly missed by her family and friends. And of course, she made the best meatballs! Visitation: Sunday, January 2 2:00pm~7:00pm

Funeral: Monday, January 3 10:00am Mass Holy Spirit Church Brooklyn, NY

Interment: St. John's Cemetery Queens, NY
