Gerardo Conte was born in Avellino, Italy on July 1, 1928. He was a farmer and often spoke proudly of the times he spent working with his father, Sabato, on the family farm.

Gerardo came to the United States at the age of 21. His favorite story that he loved to tell was about meeting his future wife, Theresa. He said it was love at first sight. They were married 64 years before her passing in 2017.

Gerardo provided well for his family. Ha worked in construction. He later spent many years as the maintenance man at Regina Pacis Church where he was responsible for building gorgeous nativity displays at both Regina Pacis and St. Rosalia’s church. He later worked for the New York City Housing Authority and retired in 1992.

Gardening was his passion. He loved growing vegetables in his backyard and flowers on his porch for all to enjoy. His other hobbies were cooking and deer hunting where he had the opportunity to be out in nature.

Gerardo was always there for his wife, children and grandchildren. His family was everything to him.

Gerardo is predeceased by his wife, Theresa, his son, Anthony, and daughter, Maria. He is survived by his son, Vincent, (Carmen), daughter, Anna, (Ronnie), son-in-law, Wayne Fraser,12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
