Cosima (Galatioto) Barone, 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, just one day after celebrating her 85th birthday.

Born on December 9, 1940, in the small Sicilian village of Castellammare del Golfo, Italy, Cosima was the cherished daughter of Elisabetta Stabile and Francesco Galatioto. Her childhood in Castellammare, rich with tradition, community, and family, instilled in her the values of family, faith and perseverance that would define her entire life.

In 1972, Cosima bravely embarked on a new chapter when she emigrated to the United States, with her husband, Salvatore, and their two small children. Far from the familiarity of Sicily, she embraced a new beginning with quiet strength and committed herself to building a loving home. In the years that followed, she welcomed two more children, devoting herself fully to the role of mother, wife, and caregiver, nurturing her family with the same strength and tenderness she had learned in her beloved hometown.

Cosima’s hands were rarely still. Whether holding a crochet hook, knitting needles, or her rosary beads, she found comfort and purpose in keeping them busy. Her talent for needlework filled her home with handmade creations that became treasured reminders of her love. Cooking brought her great pride as well, and her meals, always prepared with love, became a source of comfort and connection for her family.

Her faith guided her throughout her life. A devout Catholic, Cosima attended Mass weekly for as long as she was able. When walking became difficult, she continued her devotion by watching Mass on television or on YouTube, ensuring that prayer remained a constant in her home.

Cosima is survived by her beloved husband of over sixty years, Salvatore, her children Dominick and his wife Mary Jane, Lisa and her husband Joe, Frank, and Maria, her treasured grandchildren Mario, Josephine, Colleen, Sabrina, Emma, Andrew, Sofia, and Cosima, and her siblings Nino and Brigida. She will be remembered always for her loving, caring, respectful, and compassionate nature, a legacy that lives on in the family she nurtured so deeply.

Cosima’s legacy lives on in the countless acts of love she offered so freely, faith lived with devotion, and in the family she nurtured and cherished so deeply.

Trusting in the words of Christ—"Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest"— we commend her gently into His care.
