Obituary For Carol C. Farrell

Carol Christine Aievoli was born to Christine and Joseph Aievoli, Sr. on February 13, 1939. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years, Richard (Dick) T. Farrell, who she met when they were students at St. John’s University. Dick, who was a professor at Brooklyn Law School for fifty years, often referred to Carol as “St. Carol of Flatbush.” While their boys were growing up, she and her family enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in Honesdale, PA in the Poconos.

During the late 70s and the 80s, Carol worked as an executive secretary for UNICEF. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to movies and theater. After their sons graduated college, Carol and Dick enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, several European countries, and the western United States. Once their grandchildren were born, summer vacations to Long Beach Island, NJ, with the whole Farrell clan became a beloved family tradition.

Carol is survived by her sons, Thomas (Anna Marano), Richard (Joyce), Sean (Elena Brescia), and Christopher (Ann); seven grandchildren, Caitlin (Matt Biggar), Kerry, Lia, Luke, Jennifer, Michael, and Meghan; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Brendan; as well as her beloved brother, Joseph Aievoli, Jr (Mae) and nephew Joseph Aievoli, III (Kim).

I only met Carol a few times (through Dick, who was my colleague at Brooklyn Law School). But I very fondly remember July 4, in either 2000 or 2001, when we all celebrated together, watching the fireworks from the balcony of 2 Pierrepont Street. Dick brought the whole clan (or at least lots of it) children and young grandchildren. They brought snacks, but also the joy that a "clan" can bring. Dick was clearly proud of them all. Carol was clearly the glue. My condolences for your loss, and wish you the blessing of her memory. Ted Janger
